What Makes Us Special

Early childhood experiences shape the people that we will become. At Riverside Nursery Schools we strive to provide children with the best possible start. We are committed to creating an environment where children form strong attachments with staff and their peers, where they can build confidence, resilience and where they are actively encouraged to be curious and loved for who they are.

We plan hands on, authentic experiences so that the children learn about the world around them and their place in it. We foster a love of the outdoors and learning from nature and invite the children to play through provocations and activities that are based on their individual interests and needs, so that they are engaged and fulfilled during their time with us.

Experienced Team

We ensure that we follow the guidelines set out by Ofsted & CIW with regard to staff qualifications to ensure that we have the right mix of qualified and trainee staff. We are proud of our apprenticeship programme where our qualified and experienced staff, together with the management team, support and mentor staff through the process of obtaining Childcare qualifications. This leads to a skilled, knowledgeable and enthusiastic work force.

Following Our Curriculum

In our Tutshill setting we are guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and have created our own curriculum to fit alongside the criteria set out in the statutory documentation. In our Chepstow setting we follow the Non-Maintained Curriculum for Wales and work closely with the Education Achievement Service to ensure we are meeting the requirements of this curriculum. Whichever setting you choose you can be confident that your child’s individuality and uniqueness will be at the heart of our curriculum.

30 Hours Funding Option

We offer funded places in both our settings, however the criteria is different depending on which setting your child attends. Healthy Eating

We have worked closely with the Healthy Preschools Team and gained our award to show that we are a Healthy Eating Nursery. We teach the children about where food comes from and by growing and harvesting some of their food and regular weekly cooking activities the children gain an understanding of what a healthy diet looks like.
