WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

Partnership With Parents

At Riverside Nursery School we recognise the importance of building strong relationships with the whole family to ensure that we provide the best support for the children. Working in partnership with parents is key to understanding the individual needs of each of the children in our care. The sharing of information about children’s development at home helps us to provide an holistic and tailored approach to children’s learning and development.

We hold regular “Stay and Play” sessions where parents/carers/grandparents can come and spend quality time at the setting with their child and see how their child interacts whilst at nursery. We also organise Parent/Teacher consultations to update parents/carer’s on their child’s progress and prepare for transitions to the next stage of learning.

We have an open door policy and welcome parents into the nursery at any time to discuss any

matters concerning their child.

Oral Health

Riverside Nursery recognises the importance of Oral Health and we have a policy in place to ensure that we are teaching the children about taking care of their teeth through regular brushing, visiting the dentist, eating healthy food and snacks and tooth friendly drinks.

We aim to work closely with parents to ensure a consistent approach and a good understanding of how to put in place a good oral health routine. We organise visits from the local dentist to help the children learn in a fun and authentic way.

Home Learning

We know that mums and dads are the first and most important influence on their child’s development and shaping their future. The learning that takes place in the home environment has more influence on a child’s future achievement than innate ability, material circumstances or the quality of early years provision.

The role that mums and dads play in supporting their child’s development is key to making a difference in their children’s future outcomes. We are committed to ensuring that we actively engage with mums and dads, that we listen to what they need and that we provide them with the right support. To that end we aim to create strong home links by engaging parents in activities that they can do at home with their child and encouraging them to share photos and observations of how they spend their time at home so that we get a really clear picture of the child.

We provide plenty of opportunities for parents to meet to discuss their child's progress through formal parent consultations and informal chats at the start and end of the session and we make sure that we share information that will have a positive impact on each child's development.
